Common questions
Your event's money stays safely in your own Stripe account while registrations come in, and Field releases it 3 days after your event ends — then it lands in your bank in a few business days. That hold is what pays for refunds and cancellations out of your own money, so a cancelled event never turns into a bill. Two things to know: your first payout gets a quick review from us before it's sent (we aim for within 2 business days, and later payouts skip it), and payouts are sent once your balance reaches $25 (smaller amounts roll over, or email us and we'll send them). Need funds sooner, for vendor deposits or permits? Contact us and we'll review releasing some early.
Free events have zero platform fee. You pay nothing. Field only charges when participants pay you.
No. There are no monthly fees, no setup costs, and no contracts. You pay per transaction, only when you collect revenue.
All major credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. Participants check out through Stripe's secure hosted page.
Yes. When a single checkout totals $250 or more (a team, club, or company registering together), the percentage drops from 3.5% to 3.0% of that checkout. The flat part is $0.99 for the first paid registrant, plus $0.30 for each additional person in the same checkout.
That's your choice. You can absorb the fee or pass it through to participants during event setup. Either way, the math is the same.
Registration closes and every registrant is emailed. Field then offers you a one-click "Refund everyone": each person goes back to their original payment method, and Field waives its platform fee, except Stripe's own non-refundable processing cost (which nobody can get back). If your refund policy says cancelled events aren't refunded, that's your call — just know a participant may dispute the charge with their bank. The event's money stays on hold until you ask us to release whatever is left.
A dispute is when a participant asks their bank to reverse a charge. Field may respond on your behalf, and may ask you for evidence such as your event details and refund policy. There is no collections process on your end: a lost dispute is deducted from your held payout. The disputed amount comes out of your held payout if the dispute is lost. Stripe also charges a $15 fee per dispute, even on ones that are won: Field covers it for fraud disputes (for example, a stolen card); for the rest, such as an event that didn't happen as promised, it's yours and is deducted from your payout. Because your money is held until after the event, there's always a balance to cover it.
